New Student Info

It is possible for most students to assume — “Everything will be Easy” in American. “Everything won’t be easy” is the real fact.

No matter how much money you carry with you, you need to know that your family won’t be able to support for your education all the time, and the cost of living in America is high.

With what-ever little money you might wish to carry, you will need to move faster here — find a budget place to stay, perhaps share an accommodation with a friend, find a place that’s near to your College or University so you can save some money, food cost, and the list can go on and on. You will have little or no time to rest, for in most cases, you will be joining your college as soon as you touch the ground !

You should bring at least enough money to live here for six months without a job. Finding jobs right away isn’t practical. You might not be able to bring all the money at once, but you should have some ready back home which you can ask for it when you need. With 6 months of financial security, you will be able to move faster here - i.e. focus on your early studies, socialize with friends and build your own network and perhaps eventually you will be able to support yourself and education through a job.

Allocate as much as $5,000 for your living expenses for 6 months or so. You can always save some of it to pay for next semester.

Most students need to work - we mean, work really hard!

So, Reality will sink In — studying and working at the same time to make ends meet can be very challenging, plus if you wish to pay for tuition fee, you will probably need to work much much harder. Working and studying is possible. For insight on how it’s like to study and work in America, read various posts by a Nepali title, “Dreams you count, Reality You Live”
